Made of silk, the backside is white with a floral chrysanthemum and paulownia pattern while the front is a light brown background detailed gold designs featuring the mythological bird Ho oh which has been a longstanding motif in Japanese Buddhism. Uchishiki is mainly used by followers of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism on the upper table
