Hickory Shafts for Irons Irons which threatened his amateur statusWe source our hickory from a supplier in Tennessee that was supplying hickory to the manufactures back in the 20s & 30s. We take in hickory boards, then painstakingly turn them into dowels, which we check for zero imperfections (wormholes, knots, etc.), strength and straightness of grain. We then sonically test the shafts using our proprietary process. Finally, we run these selected shafts through our custom wood lathe, sorting them for stiffness,
